PEEB Cool mission in Indonesia advances next steps for implementation

From 03.03 to 07.03, PEEB completed a successful mission in Indonesia, working closely with variety of stakeholders to define the next steps of the PEEB Cool Programme in the country. The programme will work to accelerate the implementation of energy efficiency measures in the country, with housing sector as a key focus for activities.

The discussions focused on PEEB Cool’s two main areas of work. In collaboration with Nurrahman Putra Waluyo from the Agence Française de Développement in Southeast Asia, PEEB team members engaged with Indonesian partners—including the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Public Works, the Fiscal Policy Agency, and the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas—to explore the investment landscape for large-scale building projects supported by the PEEB Cool investment facility.

In addition to investment planning, the GIZ team also worked with local stakeholders to identify barriers to investment in sustainable buildings. They exchanged about policies and capacity building activities to remove these barriers, to be implemented by PEEB Cool’s enabling facility.

In the housing sector, awareness raising, energy efficient policies, and new capacities will align closely with Indonesia’s ambition to build 3 million quality housing units per year, providing not only shelter but also health and well-being for the population.
