- Develop financing products for energy efficiency in buildings at a commercial scale.
- Invest in energy efficiency in public sector buildings.
PEEB Activities
PEEB supports the Ministry of National Land Use, Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy (MATNUHPV) to strengthen the enforcement of the building code, including through trainings for ministry agents working on social housing. A regional roundtable for the MENA region, organized with the GlobalABC, brought together 100 participants from 12 countries. Participants discussed how to translate ambitious climate goals into concrete actions in the building and construction sector in the region.
To stimulate the uptake of energy efficiency in the active private sector, PEEB supports the members of the National Alliance for Buildings and the Climate (AMBC). For example, trainings on financing energy efficiency measures in large building projects target architects, engineers, project developers and decision-makers. PEEB also helps to identify and support EEB projects of private developers.
PEEB is working with the Moroccan government to develop a national financing mechanism for residential buildings. A proposal to implement a large scale residential energy efficiency program with the public housing developer Al Omrane was submitted to the NAMA Facility to set up and support an incentive scheme for energy efficiency in low- and mid-income housing.
